My name is Maria, and I live in Eugene, Oregon, USA. A close friend of mine, Mohammed, is trapped in Gaza along with his family. This includes his parents, siblings, and grandmother. Despite the ceasefire, conditions in Gaza remain extremely severe. Mohammed's family urgently needs support to cover essentials like food, water, shelter, and medical care—for themselves and cats, Mimi, Momo, and Meo. Displaced in the Al-Mawasi tent encampment, they've split up as a precaution (to have surviving family members if one area is bombed).Recent winter storms brought heavy rain and wind that collapsed their tent, soaking bedding and belongings. (I posted an infographic that illustrates how flooding in Gaza exacerbates health and safety risks.) Daily life is a constant struggle amid physical threats and profound psychological trauma. Mohammed's younger brother, Amir, already shows graying hair from unrelenting fear and stress. A clear indicator of the toll on Palestinians there. Regardless of these barriers, Mohammed persists with his Agricultural Engineering studies, showing remarkable resilience. He is a cherished person to anybody lucky enough to have him in their lives.Your contributions provide immediate, tangible relief.
