My name is Bella and I live in England. I have started this campaign for Shafiq who is a young father and is struggling to survive in Gaza. Here is Shafiq in his own words:

I am Shafiq, a young man from the Gaza Strip, a husband and father of two daughters. I write these words not to tell an ordinary story, but to describe the daily battle we wage for survival.

Before the war, I was studying law and working as a day laborer for meager wages. Our life wasn't easy, but it was filled with dignity and hope. We lived within our means and dreamed of a better future for our children.

But everything changed.

With the outbreak of war, I lost my job, and our house was completely destroyed. We were forcibly displaced, and I lost my older brother in the early days, then my cousin. The losses kept coming so fast that we no longer had time to grieve… we just tried to survive.

Today, I bear the responsibility for an entire family:

My uncle who has cancer

My elderly and ailing father

My mother who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure

My sister who has asthma

My daughter who has a heart condition and constantly needs medication and care

As for me, I was hit by shrapnel in my head during the bombing, and it's still there to this day because I can't afford treatment.

Amidst this devastation, my baby girl was born prematurely, in indescribably harsh conditions. Today, she suffers from:

Severe malnutrition

A critical deficiency in vitamins and minerals

Poisoning

A hole in her heart

Every day I look at her and feel helpless… because I cannot provide the treatment or food that could save her life.

We now live in a tent unfit for habitation:

Extremely hot in the summer

Bitterly cold in the winter

No protection from the rain or wind

No safety, no privacy, and no healthcare

Our simplest dreams today are: to find food every day, to get medicine for my baby, and to live in a place that preserves our dignity.

I am not asking for luxury…

I am not asking for a perfect life…

I only ask for:

Food to feed my children

Medicine to save my baby’s life

Shelter to protect us from death

Any help, no matter how small, could mean the difference between life and death for an innocent child, and could restore hope to a family that has lost everything.

From the bottom of my heart,

I thank everyone who reads my words, and everyone who chooses to be a reason for us to continue living.
