A Mother and Grandmother Fighting to Keep the Family Alive

In the heart of Gaza, a mother, Alaa, is struggling alone to protect her five children and care for their sick, elderly grandmother. Since the war began, they have been forced to move through more than ten shelters, searching for safety while surrounded by hunger, cold, fear, and relentless bombing.

Each child once had a simple dream:

Raghad only wanted a small playroom, but now knows nothing but displacement.

Rahaf, a top student and young writer, dreamed of becoming an engineer, but her future is now uncertain.

Mohammed, a sports lover, still holds on to the hope of playing football.

Omar, passionate about learning and running, lost his coaches in the war yet refuses to give up.

Qais, the youngest, was a rising football talent — today, he has no field to play on. 

Alongside them is their grandmother, in her seventies, battling chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. She desperately needs proper medical care in conditions where even the basics are unavailable.

Through all of this, the children’s mother carries the unbearable burden of keeping her family alive — protecting her kids, caring for her sick mother, and struggling to secure the simplest needs of food and shelter.

This family asks for nothing more than the chance to survive, and for the children to live their childhood like any other kids in the world.
