The Needle of Hope in the Hands of Omar, the Tailor for Gaza’s Children

Hello, my name is Morgan and I am running this campaign for my friend Omar in Palestine. We were previously fundraising on GoFundMe, until they closed my account with little explanation, so we are continuing it here. Thank you for your ongoing support.

From Omar:

I grew up in a family that loved nothing more than helping people and wishing them well. We feel deep pain when we see the harsh and difficult conditions others endure. Perhaps everyone believes that the occupier can kill the hope within us, but I say they are wrong. The occupier cannot take hope from our hearts. Every morning, we plant it with our own hands and hold on to every spark of life.

One day, during this genocide in Gaza, I was at my sewing machine when a little girl came to me, innocently asking me to make her a dress. She broke my heart with her beauty and innocence. I had a piece of pink fabric, so I made her a lovely dress. It was a hot day at the time.

That moment inspired me to start making dresses for children and to bring joy to their sweet, innocent faces. On one occasion, I had no fabric because it had become very expensive. Another little girl asked me for a dress, so I took my grandmother’s robe and tailored a beautiful dress from it, like the one you see in the picture. I’ve also made pajamas for women and pants from blankets. Fabric prices here are extremely high, and clothing is scarce and unavailable. That’s why I hope you can help me bring joy to the children’s faces. The camp and the place where I live are very poor, and the people’s conditions are incredibly difficult. The cold is relentless, and many children have died because of it. Together, we can protect them and bring them happiness.

Every dollar can bring joy to a child.
