My name is Um Mahmoud, a 42-year-old mother from Gaza. I’m a mother of five, and my heart is broken — my daughter had cancer, and due to the lack of food and medical care, she passed away. I am still mourning her loss while enduring unbearable hardship.

I suffer from several health conditions, including high blood pressure, nerve compression, a herniated disc, and neck problems. My only son, 11 years old, has chronic eye inflammation (vernal conjunctivitis) and needs regular treatment.

My husband is unemployed and in pain — he has a bone mass between his tendons and severe joint damage in his foot. He needs surgery we simply cannot afford.

We are seven people living in two small rooms in a home that was partially destroyed by Israeli airstrikes. On top of this, we care for my husband’s elderly parents and sister. His father lost a kidney in 1996, and his sister suffers from high blood pressure.

We have no income and no way to meet our basic needs. We are struggling every day to survive.
