Amid the deafening sounds of explosions and missiles, we live a life of constant fear—where safety and security no longer exist. We were forced to flee our home, which was completely destroyed in a campaign of extermination. We left with nothing but the clothes on our backs. That home, newly built just months before the war, hadn’t even been fully paid off.

My name is Hassan, we are a family of eight—a father, a mother, and six school-aged children—struggling under the weight of war and famine. There is no food, no clean water, no medicine, no clothes. We have no steady income to meet even the most basic needs of our children. We cannot bring joy to their faces or ease their suffering. We try to shield them from the trauma of war, but it’s getting harder to preserve their emotional well-being.

Today, we live in a small tent that has become our entire world. In the scorching heat of summer and the bitter cold of winter, we suffer. Skin diseases like fungal infections and psoriasis have spread among us, and the father endures chronic back pain caused by a spinal condition.

Our only dream now is to provide our children with a single decent meal. Our hearts break every time we fail to do so. We carry the guilt of being unable to protect them from the harsh reality we live in—circumstances beyond our control.
