Help Motaz's family survive in Gaza

I'm hosting this campaign on behalf of Motaz's family, as Chuffed doesn't allow Palestinian beneficiaries to host their own campaigns. Please follow Motaz on social media for news and updates.

I am Motaz, I am 14 years old. I currently live with my mother, my sister who is ten years old, and my brother who is eight years old.

My father was detained by the occupation at the beginning of 2024, and due to my father's absence, and because I am the oldest son in the family, I transitioned from being a child to the breadwinner of the family. I started a small stand where I sold sweets that my mother makes at home and cold drinks.

However, now with the closure of the crossings and the outrageous price increases, the price of oil, sugar, and all the ingredients for the sweets has skyrocketed, we have run out of cooking gas, and the price of cold drinks has also increased, so I can no longer afford to buy them and I closed the stand. I cannot leave my family without a source of income, and I am a child who does not know any other work.

My mother is sick with asthma and needs continuous treatment, and she also suffers from a health issue in her stomach that doctors diagnosed as being due to nerve pressure. I need $200 monthly for my mother's treatment and $300 for monthly rent. My family needs food every month in light of the outrageous prices of no less than $500, and the food we buy is simple things that are not enough for everything, but the prices are outrageous. I am trying to gather some money to reopen my small stand so that I can support my family.

I have lost my childhood. I was an outstanding student in my school and I dreamed of becoming an engineer when I grew up, but now all my dreams are gone. All I think about and aspire to is to be able to save my mother and siblings from war and famine.

I think about what happened to me; I suddenly went from a spoiled child to the head of a family, required to protect my family, feed them, provide a source of income, and pay for housing. The situation exceeds my capacity.

I am thinking of starting a vegetable stall that could become a source of income for my family, but it requires capital that may reach two thousand dollars.

Help me and donate to me so I can provide an income for my family, support them, pay the rent, and buy medicine for my sick mother. I also want to continue my siblings' education so that their future is not wasted.

I wish I could close my eyes and open them to find my father in front of me and that everything I am going through is just a disturbing nightmare from which my father's return saves me.

His family have no access to their own bank account since his father's abduction, so the funds will be transferred to a friend in Gaza for distribution to Motaz's family.

The goal reflects a bare minimum of $1000/£750 monthly for the next six months towards his family's most basic survival costs, alongside the $2000 that would support their longer-term stability. These costs are only likely to increase if the occupation's blockade continues. It also reflects the high commission - 40% or more - which people in Gaza must pay to withdraw funds.  I will cover international transfer costs myself.
