My name is Madleen, I’m 25 years old and a mother of three children — ages 5, 3, and 1. My youngest child, just one year old, suffers from severe kidney failure and needs weekly lab tests, special food, sterile water, diapers, and infant formula. He can’t eat canned or processed foods — even a small bite could make him dangerously ill.

We lost our home in the war. Now, we’re staying in a partially destroyed room in my husband's grandmother’s house — 12 people crammed into one room.

Before the war, my husband worked in construction and owned a car. Now, we have nothing. Our lives have been turned upside down.

There are days when we go two days without food. My baby has no diapers — I use cloth instead. We’re desperate.
