Areej, a mother from Gaza, is living with unimaginable pain and responsibility. She lost her baby girl—just one year old—in the recent war. Now, she is fighting to protect her two surviving children, both of whom suffer from brain atrophy, a debilitating condition that requires ongoing care.

“I had to leave the tent after my children were bitten by insects. Now we live in a single rented room for $300 a month… and I don’t know how I will keep them alive.” – Areej

Areej’s extended family of 20 people is still living in tents. But because of her children’s fragile medical condition, she had to borrow money to rent a room—a space that is barely safe, but at least protects them from the insects, cold, and chaos outside.
