Like so many others, Rahaf's family have had no regular income for almost 2 years due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Donations received through her campaign are the only way they can afford food and daily essentials. Covering the cost of daily survival is the current priority for this fundraiser.
Here is Rahaf's story in her own words:"Hello, my name is Rahaf, and I am from northern Gaza. I am 17 years old.
My family used to consist of 9 members, but now we are 8 after the martyrdom of my brother Issam.
My father, who is 37 years old, suffers from asthma and has severe burns on 40% of his body. My mother, also 37, suffers from eczema. My brother Ahmad, who is 11 years old, has a kidney condition that causes protein leakage.Since the beginning of the war in October, my family and I have been displaced from our warm, clean, and beautiful home in the south of Gaza more than 10 times, searching for safety and stability. But sadly, we haven’t found safety anywhere because the bombing is happening all over the Gaza Strip.
We tried to leave Gaza seeking safety, but we couldn’t due to the extremely high cost of travel, which we simply cannot afford.
After a year and a half of war, a truce was declared, and we returned to the north. Life was beginning to improve, but then, one night during the truce, the war resumed. The fear returned, the massacres and bombings resumed, and the terrifying sound of drones filled our hearts with terror—fear that we or our loved ones could be targeted. And in fact, my brother Issam became one of the victims of this war.
We live with constant fear, every second, without a moment of safety or peace. I can’t describe to you how each time we were displaced, it left a deep negative impact on my mental health and that of my family.
My brother Issam, who was only 13 years old, was martyred on June 5th of this year when the Baptist Hospital was targeted. He was simply going to fill water from the hospital when shrapnel hit his head, and he was killed."
