Help Amjad Evacuate His Family to Safety & Feed His Children

My name is Clarissa, & I am honored to be part of the team, along with my friend Tal, hosting this fundraiser for Amjad, Abeer, & their family. Tal manages the finances, while I assist with writing, promotions, and updates. Since this campaign first began, we've had to periodically raise the goal amount, and will likely need to keep doing this because this campaign will continue for as long as it is needed. Most families in Gaza need a minimum of $150 per day just for food alone. 

Please remember the amount raised as it is listed on this campaign page does not reflect what this family currently has access to. At any given moment, most of the funds we raise are spent soon after receipt, which is another reason why recurring donors are urgently needed and greatly appreciated. Tal transfers funds directly to Amjad on a regular basis so he and his family can buy food and medicine, pay for rent, and secure other necessities, such as clothing, diapers, fuel/wood, and water.  

I have grown very close to this family, and speak with them often. I hope you will read and share their story, and give them as much support as you can.

Amjad & Abeer

When the Israeli aggression began in October of 2023, Amjad and Abeer and their families had to flee their home because it was besieged by fire and surrounded by firebelts. After leaving they were then displaced at least nine more times, and their home was destroyed. Because of the checkpoints, when they first tried to move south, it was too dangerous for Amjad, as Palestinian men were being arrested and taken captive by the Israeli forces at the checkpoints. Abeer left with their son Hassan in search of safety, and this close-knit family was separated from each other for over a year until November 2024 when Amjad was thankfully able to reach them and they were reunited. 

They have been together ever since, trying to survive many dangers with little support. Because of Israel's illegal blockade causing the famine in Gaza, food, medicine, clothing, fuel, and basic essentials are scarce and very expensive. Families in Gaza are forced to rely on us for support as they try to cope with many hardships while also being deprived of safety and shelter.

In addition to Amjad, Abeer, and their sweet son Hassan, this lovely family now also includes baby Mohammed, who was born in August after nine months of danger and many many challenges. Abeer has a health condition which meant she  needed regular heparin injections during her pregnancy to prevent blood clots from harming her or their unborn baby. She was deemed a high-risk pregnancy, so being able to buy these injections was critically important, and was something we crowdfunded for each week.

As the bombardment on Gaza City intensified this past September 2025, Amjad and his family also began to prepare for forced displacement, spending many terrifying nights leading up to their journey, again, with the night skies lit up with illumination bombs and the constant sounds of bombing and shelling. They were forced to leave because of this violence, and after being displaced again, they have been trying to reestablish a place where they can continue to survive. And they also need even more help as they try to prepare for the winter weather. 

Amjad and Abeer are very caring and kind. They are committed to their children and to their families. Amjad feels responsible for the well-being of his grandmother, his wife and children, his sisters and their kids, especially his sister whose husband was recently martyred during the genocide.

Amjad has told me he is very tired. He wants more than anything just to have a simple ordinary life, where he can make his wife and kids happy and enjoy spending time with them. He misses being able to just be, to have a job and regular routines. 

Conditions in Gaza are deteriorating and sometimes it is difficult not to despair. But despite this, Amjad and Abeer are doing everything they can to be ok, to take care of each other and their family, and to persist in trying to find and create moments of joy for Hassan and new baby Mohammed. We owe it to them to give them our enduring support, to help them have what they need to survive these dark days and nights.
