This page has been running since March 2025. Though the total sum of donations may seem substantial, Sereen therefore does not have any money reserved for her family's current needs. All donations in the past year were immediately transferred and used to cover urgent costs such as evacuation from targeted zones, rent, medical care, and food. The campaign is still a vital lifeline for the family's survival.
Here are Sereen's words - please also follow her on social media for regular news and updates. We're also running a donation-based 'shop' where you can order greetings cards featuring her embroidery designs!'My name is Sereen Ragheb Abukrayyem. I am 42 years old and a mother of a beautiful child. Leliaa (3 years old). ❤️ she is my whole life, light and soul. My child is my fight and what keeps me going.
Anybody who knows me, knows that I am a very reserved, and private person. I have always been independent and I am used to doing everything on my own for me and my child. So, please understand that it is hard for me to put my personal business out there today and to finally ask for help.
My story started in September 13th 2023 when I left my husband and traveled to Gaza with my child to visit my parents and we have never been able to return until now.
In the last year we are just trying to survive and battling to be alive till this moment, trying to convince my daughter that we will return to her father and reunion one day. Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there..on January 5th 2024 my parents lost their home and we moved to live in a tent with my parents who are suffering from old age and many illnesses. After a month, we no longer had any money. We could not even buy food or medicine, at that time my parents and I had no sources of income for 9 months and I felt that we were on the verge of death. We had lost all our dreams and memories. We are here killing and being destroyed, and we see that death is very close. I see all of this and I also think about my daughter’s health condition, who needs surgery due to an umbilical hernia. Therefore, we need to be evacuated from here. With my daughter and parents, we may be in a safe place with good living conditions.
Recently, my father suffered from a stroke and could no longer move easily. He needs physical therapy and medicines that we can no longer provide.I am here today for asking your help to survive with my child and parents until I can take them to evacuate from this war and reach my husband in Egypt so he can meet his child and embrace her again.
I understand we all go through hard times so anything helps.. Whether it be your love & support, a donation, sharing my story, or sending love, prayers, positive & healing vibes. All is accepted and very much appreciated.'
These are just some of the costs which Sereen's family is facing at the time of writing (updated April 2026):
Monthly rent - $300: Sereen's father's health was rapidly deteriorating in the tent environment. Thanks to contributions from the campaign, she was eventually able to rent a room. She needs consistent support to keep a roof over his head
Oxygen tank refills - $180. Sereen's father has been hospitalised with breathing difficulties, and needs daily access to an oxygen tank to prevent this from recurring.
Heart medication - $70 per month. Sereen's father needs daily medications (Concor & Farxiga) to manage his heart failure and prevent his health from deteriorating to crisis point.
Gas cylinder for cooking - $90 each. Without this, the family have no alternative but to cook over an open fire, burning plastics if they can't get firewood and inhaling toxic fumes
School fees for Leliaa - $80 per month. After years of trauma, starting kindergarten has given Sereen's little daughter back some hope, joy and stability, but she needs to cover monthly fees in order to continue.
Food - the ongoing restrictions on goods entering Gaza, alongside the destruction of local agricultural systems, means that prices are still very high. One day's worth of food currently costs around $30.© Copyright 2025-2026. Built by @mqudsi – reach out with any questions or issues.
