“I am Rahaf, a 14-year-old girl from Gaza. I never thought I’d write these words, but I’m writing today because I have no other way to protect my family.”
Rahaf lives with 6 family members—her parents and four siblings, ranging in age from 14 to 50. Their home has been destroyed, and they are now displaced, struggling to survive amid the destruction, disease, and relentless hunger.
Her mother suffers from thyroid disease and urgently needs daily Thyroxine medication, which is no longer available in most places. On top of that, the entire family—especially the children—suffer from malnutrition and anemia due to lack of access to healthy food.
“We can’t find proper food, clean water, or medicine. My siblings and I are weak. My mother is getting worse. There’s no school, no future. But we’re still holding on.”
π The Crisis:
-
Their house was bombed—they lost everything.
-
No school means Rahaf and her siblings have lost their education.
-
Her mother urgently needs medication and sterile supplies to treat infections.
-
The family needs food, vegetables, flour, and clean water to survive.
-
Even basic medical supplies like oral rehydration salts are unaffordable.
