Since October 7, they have endured Israel’s inhuman assault, suffering displacement, starvation, injury, illness, and the loss of family members and neighbors. Bombs have badly damaged the Al-Nabeeh home, and they live without electricity, running water, or cooking fuel. For months, the blockade of the Gaza Strip has prevented the entry of food and medicine. There is very little for the family to eat and no end to the air strikes in their neighborhood. All contributions to this fundraiser will go to support the Al-Nabeeh family in their struggle to survive.
Samar is 28 years old. She studied at Al-Aqsa University to become an English teacher. Her dream was to open a school to serve the children in her neighborhood. During the summer of 2024, she raised money to buy supplies and educational materials. She opened her home and began providing two days of instruction a week. Her classes offered the students a safe space for play and learning. Sadly, with the intensity of Israel’s bombings, she was forced to close the school at the end of the year.
Samar is blessed to be part of a large family. Her parents have been married for 30 years and are in poor health. Her father earned a living repairing electrical appliances.
Samar has three sisters. Two sisters are married and live with their families in other parts of Gaza City. Samar has seven nephews! Her youngest sister lives at home and is studying to be an English teacher like Samar.
Samar has three brothers. The eldest works as a surgeon at the Al-Ahli and Al-Shifa Hospitals. When Israel first began its attacks, he stayed working at the hospitals for an entire month and continues to work today despite the constant danger. One brother lives in Malaysia, where he works in tourism. The youngest is 14 years old, and lives at home.
Samar prays for peace and freedom for the people of Gaza, her family, and herself. She dreams of leaving Gaza for the first time and seeing the world. It is my hope that through your donations we can help Samar survive and live out her dreams. Please give generously and help share this fundraiser. Thank you.
How This Fundraiser Works
My name is Jake, and I’m a friend of Samar that lives in the USA. We met online last September and are in touch every day via WhatsApp. Contributions to the fundraiser, minus the site processing fee, will be transferred to Samar’s bank account via wire transfer. The fees in Gaza to withdraw cash from bank accounts can be very high, sometimes 30%. Please get in touch with me through this fundraiser if you have any questions or would like to help!
