Give Hope to Weam, Moamen & Their Cat
My name is Weam. I live in Gaza with my fiancé Moamen and our beloved cat, Tama.
For the past 20 months, we’ve been living through a brutal war — a genocide against all of us in the Gaza Strip.
We have been forcibly displaced more than 12 times. Each time, we’ve had to leave behind whatever little safety we had and start over — just to survive.
Our home, and the homes of both our families, were completely destroyed. We lost everything: our clothes, belongings, and memories.
Moamen also lost his small dessert business, his only source of income. And I lost my work as an artist when the war began — I haven’t been able to find a single opportunity since.
Despite everything, we’ve fought hard to keep our cat Tama alive. Through the harsh winter and the unbearable summer, we carried her with us from place to place. In the tents, I held her close and tried everything to protect her.
We faced death many times, but we chose life — and life, somehow, kept choosing us back.
But the worst part isn’t death — it’s what we’re living now:
Relentless bombing. Hunger. Displacement. No safety, no shelter, no rest.
We have nothing left but our souls, trying to survive the unimaginable.
And yet… we still dream. We dream of a safe future, where joy returns to our lives.
