Hello my name is Jemma, I am now (also) running a Chuffed for Hala Ayad, an incredibly sweet and strong Palestinian single-mother from Gaza whose husband was martyred. Hala has 5 lovely children (pictured) she is taking care of during the genocide and “israeli” seige-induced famine. Hala and her family are struggling to find food and basic necessities and at constant risk of starvation, bombing and homelessness.

Hala you may know or remember had another fundraiser on GFM. However, the person operating the account in Europe was charging her an exorbitant fee for setting this up (taken from her initial donations) and then additional fees for every transaction–effectively skimming off the top of every donation. He is now refusing to send her funds when she needs them urgently for her and her family. I frankly, find this unacceptable that anyone would profit off of someone’s suffering like this especially during a genocide, the horrors of which many of us can only imagine beyond what fills our news and social media feeds. So I have been speaking with Hala and offered to set-up a Chuffed for her (I am running another Chuffed for another young woman in Gaza too). I will NEVER take any of these funds EVER you have my word! The funds here will go from Chuffed, to Stripe (who manages all Chuffed funds) or Paypal (if you use Paypal to donate) and then I will send them directly to Hala’s Paypal account in Gaza. I believe Hala’s Paypal there is connected to her bank account.

I, Jemma, have been sending Hala whatever funds I can over the last 2 months or so, but as many of you know things in Gaza are now extremely scarce and expensive and she really needs help to ensure her and her children’s survival. “I wish someone was there for me, you are a gift from God.” Hala messaged me this after sending her funds, she is truly a sweet and amazing and humble person despite enduring this genocide–I really wish I could communicate how powerful her spirit, caringness and faith are to all of you!

I will send updates as much as I can (Hala has said that internet is not very reliable where she is in Gaza) and try to match some donations with my own money as well. Thank you all so much for donating and supporting Hala and her family, we truly appreciate it and Free Palestine!

In love and solidarity,

Hala and Jemma
